Ask Log Man:
What can be done with chinking
once it is done. Can it be changed? PS on 8/31/05
Log Man sez: Chinking
is that caulk type material, usually lighter in color
than the logs, that is used to fill those exterior and
interior wall spaces between the logs. It is required
with some log styles and a cosmetic option with other
logs. We sell both style logs.
When chinking is required, it usually has insulation value.
In most cases, the color can be changed with a chinking
solution or the reapplication of another color. Chinking
can also be left uncovered when the home is restained.
This makes it about the same color as the logs.
