Details About Sportsman Cabin Collection

To make them more affordable, Honest Abe cabins are designed with simplicity in mind and are not intended as residences. They are not designed to meet residential building codes, saving you costs on inspections and permits. In the event that a residence is desired, local building code specifications will have to be incorporated into these cabins as they are assembled. Be sure to check with code officials on their requirements before starting your project.

  • The log walls are made of 4¹ x 6² white pine logs. They are prefiled or milled to a D-log shape, meaning a flat surface inside and a round surface on the outside. Each log is kiln dried and inspected to provide the highest quality of materials.
  • The open beam system for the roof or upstairs loft uses solid white pine beams. They provide an elegant finish when combined with the overall look of the log walls.
  • The floor and roof decking is a high-quality 2² x 6² tongue & groove wood that complements the logs and beams.
  • Spacious porches feature treated flooring and upper materials of white pine posts, beams, railings and rafters.
  • All treated materials for the pier support posts, porch floor, and sub-floor beams are environmentally friendly and provide long-lasting protection.
  • Exterior windows and doors come with the cabin packages to provide nice options with inside lighting and decorating.
  • Interior finishing materials include white pine trim boards for baseboard, ceiling, doors and windows, interior pre-hung doors, and interior studs where indicated.
  • There are even options to buy pre-cut metal roof materials, pails of exterior stain in many choices of colors, and roof insulation.
